My Great-Grandmother's Dress

This is a dress made and worn by my maternal great-grandmother, who was born in 1875 and died in 1950. If you click on the picture, you can see it was exquisitely fashioned. I wasn't born during her lifetime, so I never knew her, but I am mighty proud to display this piece of history in my guest bedroom.

This blog was part of Sally's Blue Monday party, and I'm linking to Cindy's Show and Tell Friday. Two great blog parties.

  4. What a wonderful treasure you have. I think that is amazing someone kept the dress all these years. In her time, this was a special day dress.

  5. Oh, Dayle, another precious treasure in your spare room! How I remember falling asleep to the sound of my moms power machine... and those pins held firmly with her lips... and trying on dresses in progress. I didn't have a bought dress until I was 8 years old.

I did not receive her passion for sewing. I have fudged through little girl clothing and curtains and pillows for the house, but I never had the passion my mom had.

Always sweet stopping by to visit with you!
