Simple Pleasures ~ Watching Her Grow

Year by year the complexities of this spinning world grow more bewildering, and so each year we need all the more to seek peace and comfort in the joyful simplicities.

Those words of wisdom are from a woman's publication in 1935. And here we are, 76 years later, still feeling a need to seek out the "joyful simplicities" of life.

Welcome back to Simple Pleasures, a place where we attempt to do just that. Last week, many of you expressed gratitude that I decided to tighten up the guidelines for this party. If you're new here, please visit the Simple Pleasures page for the updated guidelines. While I never like to delete anyone's link, for any reason, I do have to stay true to myself, and to the reason this party was started in the first place. So, thanks for understanding and be assured that if your link gets deleted, it isn't personal at all.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Most of you know by now that my niece made me a great-aunt back in December. Today, I stopped by to visit sweet Ainsley. (I call her a lump of sugar.) While her mom took a shower, I carried sugar baby around and sang to her, and told her that I carried her mother around when she was the same age.
I passed the mirror in the foyer and captured our image.
I climbed the stairs to her princess room and there we sat a spell ....
...  and then I held her tiny feet in my hand and marveled.
Life's simple pleasures just don't get any sweeter than enjoying the newness and innocence of babies.
I'm thrilled that Ainsley's beautiful mommy has started blogging again. If you have a few minutes, I'd be thrilled if you hopped over to The Mommy Diaries and said hello. Tell her Aunt Dayle sent you.
What's your simple pleasure today?
  1. Ainsley is a lump of sugar indeed -- I love the picture of you and her in the mirror. And those feet -- so precious! I had forgotten how very small a newborn's feet are.
  17. You realize of course that you will have a hard time ever topping this simple pleasure. I couldn't agree more that a baby is the ultimate one.
    I think she's adorable and beautiful.
    Seeing your picture with her made me remember how I felt when my first niece was born. Amazing how you can love something so tiny that doesn't even "belong" to you. I can hardly wait until I get to walk in the great aunt shoes like you.
    And don't even get me started on Grandma shoes...
    Thanks so much for sharing that lump of sugar, Dayle. I'm going to go tell her mom what a cutie she is!
  25. I know that exact feeling of carrying a baby girl around, singing to her, and telling her I did that same thing with her momma years ago! Truly a pleasure. (Some day, I really hope to be able to do that to a grandchild....but my two grown sons are not helping me!)
