Family Room Favorites

What are your favorite things about your family room?

Alison is seeking inspiration for her living room at her blog party this week, so I figured why not add my two-cents worth?

***

My favorite things about my family room are:

The paint color.
It’s warm in the evenings …

… and quite cheerful in the daylight hours.

The set of three stars on the wall.
Inexpensive, but packs a colorful punch.

My quilt hutch, which has been described from start to finish on this blog. (Click this link for details.)

The built-in shelves and cabinets.
The shelves provide the perfect space for displaying photos, scrapbooks, or whatever suits your fancy, while the cabinets are great for hiding things.

What about you?
Do you have some favorite things in your family room?
You can share by heading on over and linking up to Alison’s blog party this week, all week.

  1. I think I like best the two Stress-less chairs that we bought for ourselves. No more sore backs - we sit side-by-side in our dark green chairs, holding hands while we watch TV (or while I nap and The Great Dane watches the end of every movie we've ever started together!)

    1. Thanks, Alison. And fall is my favorite time of year. I've even been known to fire up the fireplace, when it's not nearly cold enough. :)

  3. You do have a most inviting and cozy looking family room! Sweet details abound!

We brought a small bistro table and chairs in from the patio the end of last summer, and it found a place in front of the fire place. It was only temporary but became our place to have dinner together each evening. I can't remember the last time John and I ate dinner at the kitchen table. We both enjoy sitting there after work. We eat, watch the evening news and then Jeopardy.

  4. Our living room (we don't have a family room) is painted much the same color as yours -- mine is a tiny bit more toward the orange side, but it's close, and it's a great wall color. Lovely both day and night, just as yours is. My house is too messy right at the moment for me to post a pic on the linky party :p but some time I'll share.

  6. Hi Dayle....I love your quilt chest best. Here, our living room is the "family" room, I guess. Best feature for me is the pink fireplace. Boy, do I love those real log burning fires in the wintertime. Also love my cranberry glass which goes well with the fireplace. Take care. Susan

  11. I love your room. It's comfy looking while still being pretty. My favorite part is the quilt cabinet. I remember when you posted about it and fell in love with it. As for my family room? Honestly, there is not a single thing that I love about it. It needs an extreme makeover, but it has to wait in line.

I've named it "Hildy" because it's a victim of Trading Spaces abuse.
    Enough said?

    1. Oh my ... you gave me a laugh, Debbie (as usual). I so remember Hildy and what fun to name a room after her. She was, well, something else, wasn't she?
