The Leftovers ~ Bye-Bye Antique Mall, Hello Treasures

A few weeks ago, I posted that, after some critical thinking, I decided not to renew my lease at the antique mall. Leading up to my last day there, I put on a big sale and crossed my fingers that a few of my favorite things would not sell. How's that for a true business woman? Hehe ...

After the dust settled, The Man helped me pack up and move out, and I'm happy to report that I came home with some of my favorite pieces and started enjoying them right away.

This little stainless steel creamer pitcher, all cleaned up and fairly glowing, found a new home in my antique pie safe.

On the bottom shelf of the pie safe, a genuine pewter tray makes the perfect backdrop.

Atop the pie safe, the old rolling pins look right at home.

The pie safe was the big winner this time, but there are more leftover treasures in other places around the house. I'll save those for another day, perhaps.

Until next time, dear kindred spirits, surround yourself with the things you love and you will always love your home.

  6. I'm glad that some of your favorite treasures were saved for you. I love the rolling pins most of all. My mom has a basket full of them in her kitchen, and I've always loved it.

  7. Obviously you were selling things you love! I've picked up quite a few treasures at rock bottom prices this fall, but it's bittersweet because 2 of my favorite antique shops in our small town are going out of business. I love your rolling pins and the tin they're in!

  10. Your collections look similar to mine. We had a booth in an antique mall, after selling at a local flea market for years, then closed the booth when we moved into a shop of our own which we had for 8 years. I no longer shop to find goodies, this little cottage is filled with things I love and enjoy.

I love the things you decided to keep. Would like to see your pie safe.

    Enjoy your day ~ FlowerLady

  11. Dear Dayle....You are funny. I don't blame you for hoping your beloved treasures don't sell. ha hahhaha Glad they are back home where you can love them properly!

I do, indeed, love our home, filled to the rafters with things I consider beautiful....many from thrift stores and estate sales.

Hope you have a wonderful day today. Susan

  13. I am glad you made the decision to do that and it sounds like you are okay with it. At least you knew to let go when you should. I am glad you found a few things to bring home that fit into your house. Have a great night- xo Diana

  15. I look at your treasures and I start wondering who their owners were....who touched them.....how long ago....what did they mean to that person....and then stories evolve in my head. And I love that instead of being sad you didn't sell them.....you took them home to enjoy. I think that's the best.

  16. Hi Dayle! Maybe being out of the mall will bring you some peace. Your little treasures are so lovely, and you have given them the best home! I like what you said about surrounding yourself with the things you love. That was really true.

  17. Isn't it hard to call it quits when it's something you love so much! Me too, calling it quits. Everything is on sale and December is the last month for my shop too! Sweet pieces you have and I'm so glad you were able to bring them home...
    Blessings,
    Cindy

  19. It's fun to try something new, and it's good to be able to let it go when it no longer fits with one's life. I'm glad you got to keep some of the things you especially liked - nice memories of a fun endeavor!
