Where the Wind Blows ~ A Day Away is Enough

When life gets heavy, I always find sweet relief by the ocean, where the wind blows, where the sun warms my face, where the sound of waves can be heard, where the hand of God is seen and felt.

I was delighted when twin sister asked if I could join her on the Island on Labor Day, her treat (she's nice like that). The Man said, yes, so we skedaddled.

In the evening, we brewed coffee and sat on the balcony, engaged in quiet conversation, warmed by the last light of Labor Day’s sun.

A single day away from daily routines sounds insignificant, but it’s the small things that often make a big difference.

Until next time, sweet friends, I cherish your company and wish for you a sweet September.

  1. You and I are kindred spirits. (And your sister, too.) I missed my beach trip this year. I'm still longing for one day to sit on the shore and drink in the view and sounds of my favorite place on earth.

  2. There's no place like the sea shore...even for just a day. I haven't gotten there this year. I have to do something about that...and soon :)

  3. I'm longing for some sister time. The ocean is the best place to let the troubles of life roll off with the wind and feel the peace of God. I'm looking for that next year, maybe even early fall (which is here) this year.

  4. We have this in common. Time by the sea seems to put things in perspective.

  8. The ocean is magical, like that. I don't think I can ever live too far away. One day in the right place is definitely a vacation!

  9. I live in Florida .... In Jacksonville... about 15 minutes from the ocean... and yes I RUN to the sound of those waves as often as I can... but most especially when my heart is heavy... or life seems way tooooo rushed!!!! You are ohhhh so right.. there is just something about the sun on my face... sand between my toes and the beautiful sound of the waves.. ( and lest I forget: those little sea birds chirping away!!) makes me smile for sure!!!! :)

  11. Everyone should be able to enjoy a two week cruise, right- but not everyone knows how to enjoy and make the most of "a fifteen minute vacation"...apparently you two ladies [and The Man] know how! Sometimes we have open dates on our 'calendars' for 15 minute vacations and we just think it's NOT ENOUGH. Wasted opportunities~
