All Things Considered

Sometimes, the best meal is a simple one.

Sometimes, the best story is an old one.

Sometimes, the best holidays are celebrated in familiar places, with little fanfare.

And sometimes, the best music is spontaneous and unrehearsed.

I used to host a blog party called, "Simple Pleasures," a series created to remind me to stop, to look, to listen, to slow down and pay closer attention to the simple things in life. Whenever I do, I'm never disappointed.

So how's your summer shaping up?

  2. Ah, but it's the slowing down that's so hard for us to do, isn't it? And the appreciating of simple things? We are so used to running at breakneck speed all the time and to looking at big and exciting things as pleasures that it's hard to appreciate slow and simple. But I certainly want to.

that photo of you, "the man," and Arabella in patriotic gear is great. And little sweetie on the piano is adorable.

    Blessings,
    Patti

  4. Love this post. If you know anything about me at all you know I am all about the simple things in life. Your blog party was before my time in blogland but it sure sounds like a party I would have attended often :) Summertime and the livin' is easy...planning to go to visit my TN bunch in a couple of weeks! And it's HOT, HOT, HOT!

    1. It was a great party. I got too busy to give it the attention it needed, so something had to go. I tried to get a fellow-blogger to pick it up, but no luck. :( Have a great time in TN. We're about to smother down here.

  7. Ah, yes. The Simple Pleasure party. I still recall the last post I was about to submit-- "The simple pleasure of ironing our handkerchiefs-- when the party was over. Lol! Good to see you all, though: simply pleasing family time.

Say, what happened to Stan the Man's foot? Did I miss something?

    1. He thought he broke a toe, but I think it's just bruised. It hurts, though. :( Ah, the joy of ironing. I love to iron.

  10. What a spectacular song that must have been on your piano! I never complained about my boys banging out a tune. It was music to my ears!

  11. Summer's going pretty good, and FAST! There have been trials and times of testing, but also great joy, too. This weekend I am blessed to be the Mother of the Groom - yes! My youngest son is getting married! So, this highlight is making my summer pretty great!!

    GOD BLESS!
