Simple Pleasures ~ A Clean Kitchen

Welcome to Simple Pleasures, a place where we slow down and notice the things that often get overlooked in the busyness of our day. Thanks to all of you who have been coming here and sharing your simple pleasures. I'm so pleased to host this event, and it's fascinating, reading what you choose each week. I love a good party, don't you? And don't forget to mingle, which is, after all, one of the best things about throwing a party.

If you're new, please visit the Simple Pleasures page for complete guidelines. The main thing is to stay on topic, enter your permalink (email me if unsure what that means), and don't link up until your post is active. That's pretty much it.

I can't wait to mingle with all of you!

One of my favorite things, at the end of the day, is tidying up my little kitchen. I guess that makes me an oddball, but when I make that final turn to switch out the lights, and I hear the dishwasher making that lovely whooshing sound while working its magic, suddenly, all is right with the world.

  4. I couldn't agree more, and with the mess that I have created in pulling out things for my fall cleaning, I would RELISH your simple pleasure this week.

My older daughter thinks there is nothing greater in the world than to return to a tidy spot (be it home or a dorm room).

  5. And may I also say that I'm so glad you started this little party. It is one of the high points of my week. I read things that make me turn around and notice, if that makes sense. I also think that the bloggers that I have met here are among some of the NICEST ones on the internet. Have you noticed that too? Bet you have.

  10. I have to agree with you Dayle - I check my kitchen too every night - make sure it's cleaned and everything put away and ready for the next day. I can sleep better.

  11. What a gorgeous kitchen!

A truly cleaned kitchen is a rare treat for me in my house! It is so good for the soul. (Usually I settle for an empty sink!)

I am elated to have found this blog party. I won't be joining this week as I prep to go out of town and tie up about nine million loose ends, but I will check back when the dust settles to read everyone's! Have a very blessed Labor Day weekend, Dayle!

  12. I, too, love a clean kitchen. It definitely IS a wonderful feeling to go to bed knowing that the kitchen is tidy and a pile of unwashed dishes won't be awaiting you in the morning.

Have a lovely day, Dayle, and a fabulous Labor Day weekend.

    Blessings,
    Patti

  15. I absolutely agree. I have to have all my counters cleaned off and free of clutter at the end of every day. It's the Triple Type A in me...but it eases my mind, so that's what I do.

  16. I know exactly how you feel. I love when my kitchen is all clean at night and then I turn on my little stove light and it just looks so pretty and cozy.

  17. Oh Dayle, I love me a clean kitchen too. That is usually the last thing I do before heading up the stairs to go to bed...do a quick clean up.

    Hugs!

  19. Your kitchen is lovely and, you're right, a clean one is such a pleasure. With little ones at home, this is a chore that is never ending. I often ask myself..."How many times does a kitchen need to be cleaned in a day?" The answer: I don't know, but the number is growing not shrinking. Kind of like my kiddos! Could there be a correlation?? ;) I love your thoughts! Thank you!

  20. I feel the same way you do about a clean kitchen. It's so much more pleasurable to get up to a clean kitchen in the morning. I'm so thankful for my dishwasher. It makes it so much easier. I have never liked to wash dishes.
This is a really neat (cool) meme.
    Hugs & blessings,
    Charlotte

  25. Oh, this just evoked a flood of memories! ... Immediately after supper, my mom would insist on doing the dishes (by hand, of course) -- then she'd set the table for our next meal.
I just didn't get it! Today, I'm thinking, what a lovely gesture: no doubt, she'd sleep a bit better knowing all was in it's place.
