Simple Pleasures ~ A Goodwill Deal

I stopped in at a nearby Goodwill store the other day and discovered these candle votive beauties in a box, in perfect condition. Total price: $6.50 (I saw them in a department store recently for $40.00!) I love the amber glow they lend to my dining room, and just in time for Thanksgiving. A Goodwill deal is always a simple pleasure.

Have you discovered something special for little or no money lately? Whatever your simple pleasure is this week, I hope you'll share it here at the Simple Pleasures series. Each week, you'll find a friendly crowd, and a creative crowd. If you're new, please visit the Simple Pleasures page for complete guidelines. The main thing is to stay on topic, enter your permalink (email me if unsure what that means), don't link up until your post is active, and include a link back to the party (or include a Simple Pleasures button in your post, if that's easier). That's pretty much it. I can't wait to visit with you.

  20. Dayle, your china cabinet looks a lot like mine, except mine is pine, a bit lighter. It's nice to see someone else still using a china and not just a buffet. Although I love buffets standing alone too. I can't get rid of my china cabinet because my husband and I drove up to North Carolina to purchase our dining room set when our son was just three months old. One of the chair backs has his teeth marks from when he was teething and although my husband is very handy with woodwork, I cannot bear getting rid of those marks, or the table which also has memories of our daughter crawling underneath it to hide a piece of candy when she couldn't even walk yet. Then there are the many holidays and birthdays. Okay, now I'm going to cry. Where does the time go? My babies are all grown. :( Do I mention to you every week how much I love this blog-hop? =D

  21. You probably know me well enough by now to KNOW that I get a big old pleasure out of a thrifty find! I just wish our GW were as apt to have the thrifty finds as others in blogland.

Oh goodness. I just thought of something. How cheap do I have to be to think Good Will is overpriced? Thud...

Anyway, this is a GREAT simple pleasure. I love your votives, too!

  23. What a beautiful find! Although there are no Goodwill stores within many miles of here, I know of at least two secondhand stores that might have something wonderful. Next time, I'll just have to take the time to check! Beautiful photos, Dayle.

  30. Dayle,
I am so glad I found your blog this morning and was able to join! Thinking about all the "little things" around me that are simple pleasures has really cultivated a sense of gratitude in me that the busy-ness of late has made me lose sight of. Thank you for the outlet, and I am looking forward to joining in again next week! Blessings,
    Cindy <><

  31. Beautiful votives Dayle, A wonderful simple pleasure, and at such a great bargain. I am sorry I didn't get to join this week, but have been so busy, even though I found so many simple pleasures. I am so thankful for this meme, as I find myself noting all the simple pleasures that come my way each day. Now if I can just find the time to post them . lol. Wishing you and your family the most blessed Thanksgiving.
    Hugs,
    Sue

  33. Very nice! Simple pleasures can often be the most important. And I love those I find at "bargain basement" prices. Thrift stores are so exciting for that reason.

I've hopped over from Terri Tiffany's, and I love that you mentioned using an old Corona when you first began writing. As coincidence would have it (though I don't believe in mere coincidence), my current blog post is about antique typewriters.

It's nice to "meet" you, and I look forward to following your blog. :)

  35. I pass our Goodwill store on the way to the market but have never stopped in. You have inspired me to check it out.
