Reading in Bed ~ Simple Pleasures

Ah ... It's Simple Pleasures time again. I missed you all last week, but it was a real simple pleasure to be away from the computer and just chill out in the real world. I had a wonderful Christmas, and hope you did, as well.

In an effort to keep the this series authentic, and true to its name, I've edited the guidelines a bit. Please read carefully and contact me with any questions. (For complete guidelines, you can click on the Simple Pleasures tab above.)

The most important guideline is to remember that this is not the place to link to a bazillion parties in one post. While it's possible to find one, maybe two, memes that can work with this series, I prefer that you not try and link up with more than that. There are plenty of blog parties where that is appropriate (I do it myself occasionally), but what I'm looking for here is a pure meme, with a clear "simple pleasure" theme. If I feel that your post doesn't deliver that, without having to search long and hard for it, then, regretfully, your link will be deleted. I hope you understand and I don't want to seem harsh, but I'm not out for numbers. My only objective is to find genuine simple pleasures to enjoy each week, whether it's a handful or a boat load. And I'd be so pleased if you would join me.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Man and I are both avid readers, and we both got books for Christmas. On cold evenings, I look forward to curling up in bed, reading together. It's simple and pleasurable, and that's what I'm talking about. A pure simple pleasure.
I can't wait to see what you're sharing! I will be offline most of Thursday, but will get by to see you as soon as I can. In the meantime, enjoy mingling.
What's your simple pleasure?
  1. Dayle, I am an avid reader. I especially love reading during the winter months. Hope to get some serious reading in the next couple of months.
    I hope that my post meets the criteria. My Sweet Old Bob is my greatest yet simplest pleasure. My post is a tribute to this wonderful man. Hugs, Ginger
  2. Dayle,
    I am an avid reader. I got a "husband", one of those pillows for propping up in bed and reading, for Christmas! I've been using it to read on the couch all week. Delightful.
  3. I love reading in bed - one of my favorite simple pleasures.
    I don't have a post this week, but wanted to stop by and say hello. I plan to be back next week (with a bit of something new).
    Blessings to you and your family this coming New Year.
  6. Sweet post. I could not read all cozy in bed for the simple reason that I fall asleep in probably less than 2 minutes. Sometimes I fear I just might fall asleep BEFORE I hit the bed.
    One of my pleasures is coming by to visit with you. You have a very special blog and I always am blessed by visiting.
  7. It looks like you had a nice break with your family last week. It's nice to have you back. I love your simple pleasure...it's always nice to turn the noise box off and just enjoy the quiet of a good book. Have a Happy New Year!
  8. Thank you for hosting.
    My post if full of pleasures ...I am having a birthday party and getting all ready for it. :)
    Oh, and I got Mr. Sweet a Kindle for Christmas and he hasn't put it down since. Says it is, by far, the best gift he's ever received. So..if you need a gift for your hubby sometime...
  9. This is one of life's great simple pleasures! I am an avid reader and there's nothing as leisurely as spending a chilly morning still wrapped in blankets with a good book.
  10. I love to read but usually only accomplish the completion of books during the summer months. Once the school year rolls around, I seem to be torn in so many different directions. I have a stack of books at my bedside, just waiting to be picked back up again ... one of these days. Wishing you peace, joy and love, Tammy
  12. I love to read in bed, but it doesn't last very long for me and I barely remember what I've read....because, by the time I make it to my bed, I am so sleepy ;)
  13. I love to read, but not in bed. I have to sit up in a chair in order to stay awake at night! My husband reads in bed and it doesn't bother him.
  14. My husband has to go to work at 5:30 a.m., and he generally goes to bed at least an hour before I do! I found the flower quote: "More than anything I must have flowers always, always." ~~Claude Monet
  15. I used to love reading in bed
    and then . . .
    we put a television in our bedroom.
    Perhaps it's time to take it out.
  17. I too love reading in bed. But on a weekend morning with a cup of tea before I start the day. No Simple Pleasures post for me today but I thought I'd pop in anyway and wish a Happy and Healthy New Year to you and your family!
  18. I'm just getting back from Christmas with the Inlaws and catching up. Funny that actually enjoyed your simple pleasure myself this week! Without my usual TV by the bed, I "had" to read to relax. I was reminded how much I miss doing that.
    I'm starting to think my mother is right that a TV doesn't belong in a bedroom. Hmmmm...
    Just getting home myself so there's no simple pleasure from me. I hope to have time to visit all of the simple pleasures posts, though. It's my favorite weekly blog field trip.
    Looking forward to a wonderful 2011!
